Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) seeks an organized, data-driven, and creative Email and Mobile Manager with excellent writing and analytical skills to drive email and mobile list performance to support Amnesty’s human rights mission.

The Email and Mobile Manager is a member of AIUSA’s Digital and Strategic Communications Department reporting directly to the Director of Online Growth and Cultivation. S/He is responsible for supporting the Director to achieve high-performance standards for email and mobile list health, growth, and fundraising. S/He is not only an experienced online fundraiser and advocate, but also has demonstrated the ability to utilize data and performance metrics to achieve results. In coordination with the Director, s/he will work closely with Development and its fundraising units to maximize revenue across multiple channels.
Responsibilities/Activities
  • Develops and drives day-to-day execution of innovative list segmentation strategies to support the Online Growth and Cultivation unit. This includes working with the Director to continually test and analyze list performance data in order to increase list growth, actions, and donations across the daisy chain. This also includes managing list segments to support colleagues and their programs in the Online Editorial and Campaigns and Online Organizing units.
  • Develops and drives day-to-day execution of innovative list acquisition strategies to support the Online Growth and Cultivation unit. This includes working with the Director to manage list acquisition budgets, vendors, and strategic partnerships as well as and operationalizing a best in practice new ‘sign-up to member’ onboarding process. This also includes collaborating with the Online Organizing unit to identify organic list acquisition opportunities.
  • Under the direction of the Director and working closely with the Production Associate, manages and executes all aspects of email copy and production from maintaining a shared email calendar to message approvals to building emails and creating landing pages.
  • Assists the Director in developing email and mobile advocacy and fundraising strategies to increase list growth and performance. This includes assisting the Director to ensure content for all emails and tests are consistent with AIUSA’s narrative and message of the day. Execute those strategies under the Director’s guidance.
  • Keep abreast of human rights news and events to help the Director identify and develop list growth and fundraising opportunities. This includes working closely with Communications to stay on message.
  • Keeps abreast of current and ongoing advances in digital strategy and communications including innovations in information dissemination, social media and engagement platforms, multimedia, and open source technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experience
  • 6-8 years experience in a fast-paced digital and/or communications role, minimum of 3 years of experience in online fundraising and advocacy.
  • Experience working with and/or building an email list of at least 250,000 subscribers.
  • Experience integrating, as well as working across, CMS/CRM technologies.
  • Non-profit, electoral, and/or community organizing experience preferred.
Skills or Related Knowledge
  • Proven track record of executing online fundraising and advocacy strategies for email and mobile that improve list growth and impact.
  • Skill in analyzing the characteristics and needs of target audiences and determining the most effective communication techniques for driving performance across those audiences.
  • Excellent analytical skills with prior experience optimizing list performance.
  • Knowledge and skill working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple projects and produce high quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of and skill using various CRM packages.
  • Knowledge of and skill using HTML, social media, open source CMS, blog platforms, SEO, web metrics software, multimedia editors such as FinalCut and Photoshop as well as a general technical proficiency.
  • Knowledge of and skill using Excel.
  • Excellent writing, copy-editing and proofreading skills. Knowledge of AP-style guidelines and editing experience.
  • Congeniality, flexibility, and a sense of humor required
