Job Description:The Role
The Development Manager (DM) will report directly to and work closely with the Managing Director of Community Partnerships on setting and executing development strategy and building a diverse and sustainable local funding base to achieve the funding growth necessary to support the regional program. The Development Manager is responsible for supporting the Managing Director to identify potential donors in our region, tracking and managing data systems to ensure sustainable and responsible fiscal growth, and collaborating with our marketing team to design and execute appropriate marketing collateral and channels to support our region’s goals.

The Team
Our team, including nearly 30 corps members and 300 alumni, has built strong and lasting partnerships within the unique communities of the larger Puget Sound area. And, although our experience has been marked by challenges, the momentum of our progress is rapidly accelerating. This coming year, we look forward to joining fellow communities in the Yakima Valley, forging new relationships, and working alongside our partners across the state to make excellence in education a reality for all students of Washington.
Qualifications:Primary Responsibilities
Steward Current and Potential Donors Through Project Management
Prepare and support development team members to execute actions in line with the strategic and operational plans and monitor progress against plan (i.e., prepare meeting briefs and materials, capture meeting downloads, prep donor follow-up, draft correspondence, track when tasks are completed, identify when tasks are overdue, etc.)
Planning and running inspiring events and school visits including: managing all logistics and preparation; creating and compiling materials; coordinating hosts, corps members, alumni and speakers, and managing execution of follow-up
Drafting, proofreading and editing communications including letter of intent, grants, and grant reports
Conduct research on new and existing donors to identify motivations and barriers to contributing to our organization and potential levers to deepen their connection to and support of our work
Campaign Management
Growing our local individual giving base of support, including our Sponsor A Teacher Campaign (our fundraising campaign that matches individual donors to Teach For America teachers) by creating and executing a campaign plan
Maintaining a comprehensive fundraising database and files that includes accurate donor information (background research, biography, etc.)
Efficiently tracking all communications, actions, events, and fundraising commitments for each donor in the portfolio
Collaborate with the marketing team to create region-specific materials that communicate our vision and theory of change to a variety of local stakeholders
Manage Development Operations
Requirements

Prior Experience
Minimum 2-5 years’ experience
Previous grant writing experience preferred
Work Demands
Travel to approximately three Teach For America conferences each year
Ability to travel in the Puget Sound area during business hours
Ability to work some nights and weekends
Skills
Knowledge of development landscape preferred
Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment through the use of strong organizational systems
Ability to track and leverage data and prospect research to identify partnership opportunities
Good relationship builder with keen understanding of what motivates others
Excellent writer and communicator
Creativity and willingness to engage in new forms of outreach through social media
Strong innovator who thrives in building/starting projects from the ground up
Embodies Teach For America's core values
Knowledge of Microsoft office suite
Education
Bachelor’s degree required
